the . can

I did a lab called the collapsing can lab. It was pretty cool and i enjoyed it a lot. What we did was we boiled a can until steam started coming out. Then as soon as the can boiled, we took the tongs, grasped the can, and inverted it into the cold icy water. When the can was as hot as it was, and it was put in cold water, the can collapsed completely. How the can collapses is when the water is hot and the molecules are moving fast, they turn into steam. when the hot water meets the cold water, where the molecules are closer and more tight, the can collapses because when the fast moving molecules suddenly meet the slow moving molecules, they crush the can

popcorn lab

When the popcorn went into the microwave, it took a while to pop. But radiation was the one that heated the popcorn. The radiation from the microwave vibrates the molecules from the popcorn which in turn heats the kernels up to pop. Radiation is one of the ways that popcorn is made. Another way is by hot air. Hot air is transferred to the kernels and it will make them pop. This process is called convection.
